Baptism is one of two ordinances of the church that we observe.

Communion (or the Lord’s Supper) being the other.

Baptism has always been and still is connected with a decision to repent and turn from a sinful way of life and turn to following Jesus. Baptism, therefore, is an outward sign of an inward change that God has brought into it a person’s life. For this reason, we practice believer’s baptism at PEFC.

Baptism does not save a person or get someone into heaven. Baptism for the believing person is a proclamation of what God has already done in your heart through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and his resurrection from the dead.

Baptism is telling the world I was one way and because of Jesus I am forgiven and I'm different, and I am going to live my life for Jesus following him and his Word (the Bible) for the rest of my life by his strength.

Our example in scripture for baptism by immersion comes from when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in a river, as well as when Phillip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch, as well as all of the baptisms that Jesus’ disciples & John the Baptist did.

All baptisms in the Bible were done by immersion. People wishing to be baptized are required to take a brief baptism class with the Pastor or an elder, where the biblical background of baptism will be discussed, and each person will share how they came to trust in Jesus.
